The investigation was conducted at five locations in the quarter. Two areas (9.75 m2 and 3.7 m2) were excavated on the plot at Vežėjų st. 4. Cultural layers roughly 1.6 m thick and containing 18th–20th century finds were found down to the planned depth in Area 1. Late fill layers of gravel, which were created during the laying of utility lines, were recorded in Area 2. Three areas (9 m2, 10.5 m2, and 6.6 m2) were excavated on the plot at Aukštoji st. 1/Didžioji st. 2. Layers up to 1.2 m thick that had been dug up in the second half of the 20th century were recorded in Areas 4 and 5. A 40–60 cm thick, 18th–19th century cultural layer with finds was discovered under a 60–70 cm thick levelling layer of 20th century rubble in Area 3. Nine areas (6–14, a total of 85.05 m2) were excavated in the courtyard of Bažnyčių st. 4 and in a segment of Bažnyčių street (in the former historic Žaibo Lane from Daržų street to Didžiosios Vandens street). A second half of the 16th–20th century cultural layer up to 2 m thick and containing finds and structures was discovered in the excavated areas. Area 15 (5.4 m2) was excavated on the plot at Bažnyčių st. 6. Only a fragmentally surviving 18th century cultural layer was recorded down to the planned depth in the area. In many places it had been dug up during the laying of utility lines. 20th century fill layers of clay and rubble with little value were recorded down to the planned depth of 70 cm in surveyed Area 7 (6 m2) on the plot at Daržų st. 10.In 2018, finds from the second half of the 16th–20th centuries were discovered in the excavated areas: sherds of stoneware and earthenware pots, fragments of engobed plates, glass bottle shards, fragments of panel stove tiles (Blattkacheln) with black and green glaze and of hand thrown stove tiles, and kaolin pipe stems.
