Buvusios Macikų koncentracijos stovyklos žvalgymai

LT2019 m. Šilutės r., Macikų kaime, teritorijoje šalia H. Zudermano gatvės, buvo atlikti archeologiniai žvalgymai. Macikų koncentracijos stovyklos kapinių teritorijoje žvalgymai atlikti apie 1,027 ha dydžio plote. Teritorijos aplinkoje žvalgyti 3 plotai – plotas I apie 0,43 ha, plotas II apie 0,97 ha ir plotas III apie 2,56 ha dydžio. Iš viso 2019 m. žvalgytas apie 4,99 ha plotas. 2014 ir 2017 m. kapinių teritorijoje archeologinius tyrimus vykdė E. Abromavičius ir D. Balsas. 2014 m. perkasose aptiktos įvairios ūkinės ir 8 kapų duobės. Atidengti pastato pamatai, tvoros liekanos. Rasti 82 radiniai – stovyklos egzistavimo laikotarpio kasdieninės apyvokos daiktai (ATL 2014 metais, 2015, p. 620). 2017 m. žvalgyta georadaru (GPR) ir elektros varžos matavimo (ERT) metodais. Tyrimų metu aptiktos įvairios anomalijos, pora iš jų galbūt sietinos su kapais (ATL 2017 metais, 2018, p. 710). [...] [p. 467].

ENIn 2019, field surveys (a total of roughly 4.99 ha) were conducted in the vicinity of H. Zudermano Street, Macikai village, Šilutė District (roughly 1 027 ha) and in three areas in the vicinity of Macikai Internment Camp (German POW Stalag, Russian camp for German POWs, and Russian gulag) (area I – roughly 0.43 ha, area II – 0.97 ha, and area III – 2.56 ha). The investigation determined that 1076 graves could exist in and around the camp’s protected territory. The cemetery area also contains the remains of former camp buildings and rectangular structures, i.e. earthen enclosures, which are probably likewise building locations. 39 more distinct anthropogenic anomalies (building sites, farm pits, traces of economic activity, and various digging) were found in and around the camp and are likely to date to the period of its existence. Three areas with potential graves were identified in survey area III. The first encompasses roughly 2700 m2 to the N of the protected territory of Macikai Cemetery. Another two groups of graves encompass a total of about 2 500 m2 to the E of the cemetery. A third area, with possibly several graves, encompasses roughly 225 m2 at the entrance to the water treatment plant.
