Muzikos leidėjas ir prekybininkas Jonas Ambrozaitis

LTStraipsnyje pirmą kartą rekonstruojamas ir pristatomas Jono Ambrozaičio (1861–1933) gyvenimas ir veikla. Prekybininkas, leidėjas, instrumentų derintojas Jonas Ambrozaitis Lietuvos muzikinės kultūros istorijoje iki šiol yra netyrinėta ir neįvertinta asmenybė. Jo gyvenimas atspindi ir reprezentuoja tiek bendrą XIX–XX a. sandūros lietuvių tautos istoriją, tiek emigracijoje susitelkusios bendruomenės (įskaitant muzikus) gyvenimo ir veiklos ypatybes, tiek konkrečiai lietuvio muzikos prekybininko padėtį Jungtinėse Amerikos Valstijose XX a. pirmojoje pusėje. J. Ambrozaičio išleisti lietuviški ritinėliai pianolai yra išskirtiniai tiek istoriniu, tiek kultūrologiniu ir muzikologiniu aspektais. Tai yra pirmieji tokio tipo lietuviški muzikos įrašai. Jų esminė ypatybė ta, kad analogiškų muzikos įrašų Lietuvoje niekada nebuvo, o JAV lietuvių bendruomenė taip užfiksavo ir išsaugojo XX a. pradžios lietuvių muzikinį gyvenimą Amerikoje. ENThis is the first survey of the life and activities of Jonas Ambrozaitis (1861–1933), a merchant, publisher, and instrument tuning expert whose contribution to the history of Lithuanian musical culture has until now not received the attention it deserves. His life reflects not only the general history of the Lithuanian nation from the late 19th to the early 20th century but also the life and activities characteristic of the Lithuanians (including but not limited to musicians) who had emigrated to the America as well as specifically the situation of a Lithuanian music merchant who found himself in the United States in the early decades of the 20th century. The Lithuanian piano rolls he was the first to publish for pianolas are unique in historical, culturological, and musicological respects. Their essential importance lies in the fact that there never were analogical recordings in Lithuania itself and the Lithuanian-American community in this way gave witness to and preserved the Lithuanian diaspora’s musical life in the United States during the early 20th century.
