ENIn 2019, a field evaluation (6 test pits totalling 10 m2) was conducted at the site of planned foundation waterproofing and deepening work on the plot at Žygimantų St. 3, Vilnius. The evaluation recorded a 17th–20th-century cultural layer up to 0.1–2.6 m thick. The peat and sediment layers identified in test pits 1 and 6 may show that this was the site of the shore of one of the ponds in the garden of the Radvila residence. The bottom layer excavated in test pit 5, based on the finds discovered in it, formed in the 17th century. The 9 surveyed areas (a total of 80.6 m2) recorded a 19th–20th-century cultural layer up to 0.6–1.9 m thick that had been disturbed in many places during previous earthworks. Peat and sediment layers dating to the first half or middle of the 19th century were recorded in places. Areas 4 and 7 contained fragments of first half of the 17th-century masonry structures, which are connected with the buildings and fence that stood on the grounds of the historical Radvila residence. 16th–20th-century finds were collected: sherds of household pottery, fragments of ‘bowlshaped’ (Schüsselkacheln) and panel (Blattkacheln) stove tiles, buttons, a musket flint, a thimble, ornament fragments, and 6 coins.
