Žvalgomieji tyrimai Panevėžyje

LT2019–2020 m. Panevėžio miesto istorinėje dalyje (UK 31872), Laisvės aikštėje ir jos prieigose, vykdant infrastruktūros ir aplinkos tvarkymo darbus, atlikti žvalgomieji archeologiniai tyrimai. Laisvės aikštės teritorijoje, Povilo Plechavičiaus skvere, Elektros, Klaipėdos, Respublikos, Vasario 16-osios gatvėse ištirtas 51 šurfas ir 2 perkasos, iš viso 134,88 m2 plotas. Archeologiniai tyrinėjimai Panevėžio miesto istorinėje dalyje, Laisvės aikštėje ir jos prieigose vyko 2007–2017 m. ENField evaluations, during which 51 test pits and 2 trenches (a total of 134.88 m2) were excavated, were conducted in the historical part of the city of Panevezys, in Laisvės and Povilo Plechavičiaus Squares, and on Elektros, Klaipėdos, Respublikos, and Vasario 16–osios Streets. In Laisvės Square late 17th–19th-century cultural layers were recorded, in P. Plechavičiaus Square and on Klaipėdos Street 18th – early 20th-century cultural layers disturbed by digging, on Klaipėdos and Respublikos Streets first half of the 20th-century paving and 18th–19th-century cultural layers, on Vasario 16–osios and Elektros Streets late 16th – early 20th-century cultural layers, and in test pit 21 on Vasario 16–osios Street two destroyed 17th–19th-century burials. Overall, 283 finds were discovered in the test pits (coins, metal artefacts, sherds of hand thrown ceramic vessels, glass shards, stove tile fragments, and roof tile pieces) and animal bones.
