ENIn the scientific literature, the phenomena of financial infidelity and borrowing habits are analyzed not only individually, but also together. Harzog (2022) found that financial infidelity can be associated with borrowing. The author singled out that 54.5 percent of couples who experienced financial infidelity had significant debt. In addition, some authors single out inappropriate borrowing habits as one of the main causes of financial infidelity. Segal et al. (2022) found that residents usually tend to discuss borrowing only in serious relationships, when partners live together, less people discuss debts at a distant stage of the relationship, when partners are engaged or married. The scientific problem: what is the relationship between financial infidelity and borrowing habits of Klaipėda city residents. The object of the research: the relationship between financial infidelity and borrowing habits of Klaipėda city residents. The aim of the study: to assess the relationship between financial infidelity and borrowing habits of Klaipėda city residents. Research methods: analysis of scientific literature, systematization, summarization, quantitative research, statistical analysis using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS).The performed theoretical analysis revealed that financial infidelity is identified with hidden financial behavior, which consists of various factors: hidden expenses, false amounts and hidden money. The causes of financial infidelity are usually associated with conflict avoidance, shame about a financial act and a person’s financial behavior habits. Hiding existing and past debts from your partner is classified as financial infidelity. Borrowing depends on the resident’s responsibility. After studying the financial infidelity of Klaipėda city residents, it was found that it is most common among younger residents, but young people have a more responsible attitude to financial information. The most common hidden expenses are: personal entertainment, the purchase of shoes and clothing, and the purchase of tobacco and alcoholic beverages. Every second financially unfaithful resident claims to have hidden the receipt, amount of a new purchase, or the amount of money they have. Klaipėda citizens are financially unfaithful in order to avoid conflict or by not giving enough importance to financial information. It was established that the financial infidelity of Klaipėda residents depends on the frequency of borrowing: financially unfaithful residents borrow up to 1 time a year, while financially faithful people tend to borrow less often. The study revealed that financial infidelity does not depend on the income and education of the population, so it can be assumed that financially unfaithful Klaipėda citizens borrow to create short-term value and benefits. Key words: financial infidelity, borrowing habits.
