Miesto parkas Vydūno alėjoje

LT2020 m. lapkričio mėnesį atlikti detalieji tyrimai ir žvalgymai Vilkijoje (Kauno r., Vilkijos sen.), Vydūno alėjoje (Miesto parke), masinių renginių vietos su scena, informacinio stendo ir lietaus nuotekų įrengimo darbų vietose. Tirta vieta patenka į Vilkijos (UK 17123) ir Vilkijos senojo miesto vietos (UK 23759) teritoriją. Vilkijos užuomazga siejama su 1426 ir 1430 m. paminėtu Vytauto dvaru, kuris XV a. atliko nemenką vaidmenį atsirandant miesteliui. Nemunu vyko intensyvi prekyba su Gdansku ir Kionigsbergu, o šalia upės nuo seno ėjo svarbus sausumos kelias iš Kauno į Jurbarką ir pajūrį. [...] [p. 476].

ENIn 2020, 17 test pits totalling 21 m2 were excavated at the construction sites of a mass event venue with a stage, an information stand, and storm drains in City Park in Vilkija (Kaunas District, Central Lithuania). A 0.7–2.55 m thick, 18th – early 21st-century cultural layer was recorded. It was determined that the layers excavated under the cultural layer’s upper 19th – first half of the 20th-century horizons contain visible traces of the frequent flooding of the Nemunas. The lower layer of dark grey sandy soil excavated in test pits 1–6 formed in the 18th century, based on the finds discovered in it. 2 areas totalling 39.6 m2 were surveyed, revealing a 0.5–1.2 m thick, 20th – early 21st-century cultural layer. A small number of finds was collected: sherds of 17th–20th-century household pottery, 2 musket balls, and 2 USSR coins.
