V. Sladkevičiaus gatvė 1

LT2020 m. buvo atlikti žvalgomieji tyrimai sklype V. Sladkevičiaus g. 1 Merkinėje (Varėnos r., Merkinės sen.). Šioje vietoje numatyta statyti paminklą Vladislovui Vazai. Paminklo pjedestalo bazės pamato vietoje iškastas 4 m2 ploto 2x2 m šurfas. Šiame sklype 2003 m. žvalgomuosius tyrimus atliko R. Jarockis, jis ištyrė 2 (1x1 m dydžio) šurfus. Pagal tyrimų metu šiuose šurfuose aptiktus radinius kultūrinis sluoksnis datuotas XVII–XX a. (ATL 2003 metais, 2004, p. 192). Viršutinis tirto šurfo horizontas buvo iki 15 cm storio humusingos tamsiai pilkos žemės sluoksnis. Jame aptikta įvairaus laikotarpio radinių, kurie šioje vietoje galbūt atsidūrė šalia šios vietos bei pačiame šurfo plote XX a. 9 dešimtmetyje – XXI a. pradžioje vykdytų kasimo darbų, tiesiant elektros bei nuotekų tinklų komunikacijas, metu. Šiame horizonte aptikta gyvulių kaulų, stiklo dirbinių fragmentų, porceliano indų šukių, rudos molio masės su žalia glazūra bei tamsiai pilkos molio masės buitinės keramikos bei koklių fragmentų. ENIn 2022, one 4 m2 test pit was excavated at the site of the planned monument to Władysław Waza, which is planned to be built on V. Sladkevičiaus St. 1. A 1,2–1.9 m thick cultural layer dating to the 15th–20th centuries was recorded. It was determined that the lower horizon of the cultural layer in test pit formed during the 15th–16th centuries. 322 15th–20th century finds were found and inventoried. At a depth of 30–50 cm, a dark gray burn layer with clay and fragments of bricks was found. Several small field stones were found on its surface, which were above the detected fragments of the burnt wooden floor. A small fragment of a 30x15 cm stone foundation was found under the burnt floorboards. The detected horizon reflects a wooden building which was built in the first or second half of the 19th century, which existed in this part of the town square until the June 1941 bombing of the town.
