Summary / Abstract:

Greta esantis sklypas T. Daugirdo g. 1 (4400–3056–7149) panaudos teise, o jame esantys rūsiai (UK 30533–30538) nuosavybės teise priklauso Lietuvos jėzuitų provincijai, jame bus statomas daugiafunkcinis mokslo ir sporto centras. Iki geologinių sluoksnių buvo ištirta pastato P dalis, kur numatoma įrengti rūsio patalpas, skirtas visuomeniniams poreikiams. Kauno senamiesčio 6 kvartale užstatymas pradėjo formuotis dar XV a., intensyviausiai augo XVI–XVII a. Natūrali kvartalo raida buvo nutraukta XVII a. viduryje, karo su Maskva metu (1655–1660). ENA 28.35 m2 area was excavated down to the geological layers at T. Daugirdo St. 5 in Kaunas, revealing the floor plan and 3 cultural layer cross-sections, which, based on the finds, date to the 15th–18th centuries. In the 15th century, a hole was dug in the entire area of the room, but the hole, with the creation of the bottom layers, gradually filled with layers of various composition until the late 17th – early 18th century. In the 18th century a brick floor was laid in the room, the floor’s remains surviving in the SW part of the room and a small fragment by the N wall. The building at T. Daugirdo St. 5 was built on a pier foundation with arches and, based on the stratigraphy of the archaeological layers and finds, dates to no earlier than the early 18th century. The archaeological finds consist of 15th–18th-century panel and ‘pot-shaped’ stove tiles and sherds of household pottery with various purposes. The lower layers contained 15th–16th-century coins and 3 Nuremberg jetons, the upper layers many mid-17th-century copper coins and small metal artefacts. The lower layers also contained domestic animal and fish bones and bone fragments that had been chopped in accordance with Medieval and later butchering technology. After the 2020 archaeological investigation, the underground part of the building at T. Daugirdo St. 5 has been completely excavated.
