Sodybos Bitėnų kaime tyrimai

LT2020 m. vyko Bitėnų kaimo antrosios etnoarchitektūrinės sodybos (UK 1642) teritorijoje esančio sklypo Nemuno g. 3 (Pagėgių sav., Lumpėnų sen.) žvalgomieji tyrimai. Iki šiol archeologinių tyrimų nei sodybos teritorijoje, nei apskritai Bitėnų kaime nevykdyta. Istoriniai duomenys apie Bitėnų kaimą siekia dar XV a., kai 1490 m. Bitėnai (vok. Bitten, Bithenen arba Bittehnen) paminėti kaip sielininkų ir keliaujančių Nemunu poilsio vieta (Peteraitis V., Purvinas M., Veiverienė V., Bitėnai, Mažosios Lietuvos enciklopedija, Vilnius, 2000, t. I A–K, p. 184). Bitėnų gyvenvietė laikui bėgant plėtėsi, XVIII a. pastatyta pradinė mokykla, o spaudos draudimo metais tai buvo vienas pagrindinių spaudos leidimo ir platinimo centrų. ENIn 2020, a field evaluation was conducted on the plot at Nemuno St. 3 on the grounds of the Bitėnai Village Second Ethno-architectural complex (Pagėgiai Municipality, West Lithuania). During it, 26 m2 were excavated and 7 geological probes driven. 9 test pits and the bore cores yielded no archaeologically valuable layers or finds. Test pit 10 revealed 16th–17th-century layers with ceramic vessels, brickbats, and window glass fragments. An object with stones and timbers was recorded but its chronology remains unclear. The discovered Klaipėda-style bracelet dating to the first half of the 3rd century could be connected with a destroyed burial or other archaeological site in the vicinity of Rambynas.
