Biržų pilies rūmų restauracija 1978-1987 metais

LTNuo 1704 metų rūmai stovėjo be stogo, pamažu nyko, ardomi laiko ir žmonių. Seniausios turimos nuotraukos rodo, kokios būklės buvo rūmų liekanos iki rūmų konservavimo 1955-1957 metais ir restauracijos 1978-1987 metais. Iki 1978 m. Biržų pilyje stovėjo mažai tyrinėti rūmų griuvėsiai - mūsų laikus pasiekė vienas ilgasis rūmų fasadas, centrinė rūmų dalis, taip pat kai kurios dešiniojo rizalito sienos - išliko maždaug pusė rūmų sienų tūrio. Daugiausia autentiško sienų mūro rūmų cokoliniame aukšte - čia išliko visos rūmų sienos. Mūsų laikus pasiekusiuose mūruose išliko langų ir durų angos, langų apvadai, sandrikai, skliautų, laiptų ir kitų elementų fragmentai. Autentiškuose mūruose greta kitų architektūrinių elementų išliko židinių bei krosnių pakurų pėdsakai. 1960-1961 metų kasinėjimų metu surasta daug įvairių spalvinių derinių koklių, atsikasta iki autentiškų pusrūsių grindų liekanų. Iki žemės paviršiaus nuardytas priekinis rūmų fasadas su arkada, didžioji dalis vidaus sienų šoniniuose rizalituose [p. 120].

ENIn 1978 in Biržai there were left only the ruins of the old castle - one long facade, the central part of the castle and some walls of the right risalite. The rooms of the ground floor and basement had arch covering and the other floors had wood covering. The walls of all the rooms were covered with plaster. We have no information about the architecture and decor of the walls of the upper floors and also about the interior. In the basement the authentic floor (ceramic tiles and field stones) is left. The findings show that the floors in some rooms of the house had ceramic tiles and red and grey stone slabs. In the left risalite there was the zone of big halls - even 5 big halls. The stairs there were wide and there were no toilets. In the central part of the main building and in the right risalite there was the dwelling space - the stairs were narrower, there was a lift connecting the basement and other floors, and even 10 toilets. During the restoration in 1978-1987 the silhouette of the house, architecture of the facade, almost all the inner space of the rooms and arches were restored. The ceilings of the first and second floor were made of ferro-concrete slabs covered with wooden suspended ceilings of modernized form. The lack of the information about the elements of the interior determined the methodical type of its design. During all the 20 years after the restoration the house has been constantly taken care of. The preparation to reconstruct one stove revived the historical investigation that had stopped after the death of historian S. Pinkus.
