Kurmagalos senovės gyvenvietė

LT2020 m. balandį–rugpjūtį AB „LTG Infra“ užsakymu Kurmagalos senovės gyvenvietėje (Jonavos r., Kulvos sen.) atlikti detalieji tyrimai planuojamos „Rail Baltica“ europinio standarto geležinkelio linijos vietoje. Kurmagalos senovės gyvenvietė yra dešiniajame Neries krante, pirmojoje terasoje. Upės pakrante eina asfaltuotas kelias Jonava–Kurmagala– Skrebinai, o į Š plyti pieva. 2015 m. R. Vengalis su tyrėjų komanda vykdė žvalgymus projektuojamo geležinkelio linijoje ir šią vietą įvardijo kaip spėjamą senovės gyvenvietę (LIIR, f. 1, b. 7675, p. 19, 52). 2019 m. V. Vėževičienei ištyrus 4 šurfus, trijuose iš jų aptiktas 30–40 cm teritorijoje, patenkančioje į būsimą geležinkelio statybos darbų ruožą. [...] [p. 113-114].

ENIn 2020, an excavation (6 trenches and 4 test pits totalling 1665.37 m2) was conducted at Kurmagala Old Settlement (Jonava District, Central Lithuania) at the site of the future Rail Baltica European standard railway line. The investigation revealed a 50–70 cm thick valuable cultural layer with 1st–3rd-century hand built pottery with brushed and smooth surfaces as well as other artefacts characteristic of that period: bronze rings, iron pins, awls, needles, and knives. Flint artefacts dating to the Middle and Late Mesolithic and a triangular flake point dating to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age were also found. 8 postholes and natural holes (wind-fallen trees or water springs?) were discovered. The small number of postholes (considering the excavated area) and the fact that no other structures characteristic of settlements were found shows that a peripheral part of the settlement was excavated and its centre lies elsewhere, probably to the S and SW of the excavated area.
