Biržų pilies kiemo puošmena: lankytojus pasitinkanti bukų kompozicija

LTBiržų tvirtovėje kunigaikščių Radvilų laikais negalėjo būti medžių, nes jie būtų trukdę pagrindinei – gynybinei – pilies funkcijai. Šiandien šis vienas svarbiausių Biržuose turistų lankomų objektų neįsivaizduojamas be pavėsį teikiančių medžių, sodintų bandant Didžiojo Šiaurės karo metų apgriautą tvirtovę paversti rekreacine vieta. Iš visų prieškariu sodinto parko želdinių išsiskiria daugiakamienių bukų kompozicija, pasitinkanti kiekvieną, vos įėjusį į pilies kiemą, ir rimtai konkuruojanti dėl dėmesio tiek su pagrindiniais statiniais, tiek su gynybiniais bastioninės tvirtovės įrengimais. Bukų želdyną pristato Biržų krašto muziejaus „Sėla“ direktotriaus pavaduotoja Edita LANSBERGIENĖ.

ENThere were no trees at the Biržai fortress during the time of the Radvilas, because they would have interfered with the main function of the castle, namely, defence. Today, one of the most visited objects in Biržai is unimaginable without trees providing shade, planted to turn the fortress that was battered during the Great Northern War into a recreational site. Among all the greenery of the antebellum garden, a composition of multi-stemmed beeches stands out, welcoming everyone as soon as they enter the castle’s courtyard, and competing for attention both with the main buildings and the defensive installations of the bastion fortress. The beeches are described by Edita LANSBERGIENĖ, a deputy director at the Sėla Biržai Regional Museum.
