Title:
Aristotle and Levinas on war and peace: the one against the other
In the Book:
Levinas and the ancients. Bloomington (Ind.) ; Indianapolis (Ind.) : Indiana University Press, 2008. P. 127-143
Summary / Abstract:

ENI will discuss how the propaganda that drives war is rooted in a conception of what it is to be human, and specifically what it is to be a good, rational, ethical human; it is a conception that springs from the Western ontological tradition. Against this tradition, the thought of Levinas (re)introduces us to a notion of peace, one that comes from beyond the Western ontological tradition but that resonates with us.
