Kretingos muziejaus etnografijos eksponatų rinkinys: seniausi ir unikaliausi etnografijos eksponatai

LTKretingos muziejaus fonduose saugoma 6732 etnokultūros eksponatai. Gausiausia yra linų pluošto dorojimo įrankių kolekcija, kurioje vien šukuočių yra 190 ir per 40 brauktuvių. Unikalaus liaudiškojo meno paveldo pavyzdžiai yra ir 54 prieverpstės bei 49 rankšluostinės. Beveik visus Žemaitijoje pasitaikančius Užgavėnių karnavalo personažus atspindi 30 Užgavėnių kaukių. 2011 metais įrengtoje etnografinėje ekspozicijoje „Saulės ratu“ rodomi 400 eksponatų primena protėvių darbus ir gyvenimų kalendorinių švenčių cikle. EN6,732 exhibits of ethnic culture - 4,801 ethnographic and folk life articles, and 1,931 textile articles - are stored in the funds of the Kretinga Museum. The richest collection of the museum is related to flax fibre processing and contains 190 flax hackles, over 40 flax combs, 44 shrubby (tabular) brushes (the oldest ones dating back to 1800 and 1827). Most of them are decorated with traditional ornaments and elements. Distaffs and towel racks are also highly decorative. Thirty Fat Tuesday (Užgavėnės) masks (the oldest one dating back to 1880) represent nearly all Fat Tuesday carnival characters typical of the Žemaitija Region. The tradition of masked Fat Tuesday carnivals and mask making is still very much alive. The ethnographic exposition Around the Sun arranged in 2011 reminds us of the toils and life of our ancestors within the cycle of calendar festivals. The 400 ethnographic exhibits on display represent only a very small share of stored collections.
