Summary / Abstract:

ENModern Russian, Belarusian, Ukrainian, Lithuanian and Polish researchers of the Grand Lithuanian Duchy Supreme authorities are based on the concepts formed by the discourse of the political and legal status of the Grand Lithuanian Duchy during the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. The study of the political and legal status genesis, of the time when the nobility got political rights led to a thorough study of the Supreme authorities in the Grand Lithuanian Duchy. Within the framework of this area of study, researchers from St. Petersburg and Moscow historical schools paid special attention to the study of the Seimas of the Grand Lithuanian Duchy, including the issues of when this body was organized, of its composition, its functions’ genesis, as well as its impact on the growth of the political influence of the nobility, who used the Seimas as a tool to introduce their ambitions.
