VLIK’as, LDT ir Tarptautinių santykių instituto kūrimo donatorystė

LTPrieš trisdešimt metų, 1992-aisiais, Vyriausiasis Lietuvos išlaisvinimo komitetas (VLIK) paskelbė nutraukęs veiklą. Tuo buvo paliudyta, kad ši Vakaruose veikusi lietuvių organizacija savo pagrindinį tikslą - išlaisvinti Lietuvą, pasiekė. Jos pradžia - 1943 m. nacių okupuotame krašte, kai pradėjo reikšti nepriklausomos valstybės atkūrimo idėją. Po metų organizacija, iš antinacinės virtusi jau antisovietine, atnaujino veiklą Vakarų Europoje, o dar po dešimtmečio persikėlė už Atlanto ir jai ilgam atiteko Tėvynės laisvinimo našta. Pildydamas pažadus pradžioje VLIK’as siekė sudaryti Lietuvos vyriausybę išeivijoje, po to susitaikė su politinio veiksnio statusu ir tapo Lietuvos laisvinimo lyderiu Vakaruose. Tuo pačiu organizacija klojo ideologinius pamatus lietuvių išeivijai, brėžė Lietuvos ateities perspektyvą. Baigdamas savo misiją, VLIK’as tapo reikšmingu donatoriumi įkuriant Tarptautinių santykių institutą Vilniuje. Publikacijoje supažindinama su pastarąjį faktą bylojančiu dokumentu - VU ir VLIK’o pareiškimu bei susitarimo protokolu. ENThirty years ago, in 1992, the Supreme Committee for the Liberation of Lithuania (VLIK) announced that it had ceased its activities This testified that this Lithuanian organization operating in the West had achieved its main goal - Lithuania’s liberation. It had formed in 1943 in the Nazi-occupied land, when the idea of restoring an independent state began to be expressed. A year later, the organization, which had grown from anti-national to anti-Soviet, resumed its activities in Western Europe, and a decade later moved across the Atlantic, and for a long time it was burdened with the liberation of the Homeland. Fulfilling its promises, VLIK initially sought to form a Lithuanian government in the diaspora, then reconciled itself to the status of a political factor and became the leader of Lithuania’s liberation in the West. At the same time, the organization laid the ideological foundations for the Lithuanian diaspora and outlined the future perspective of Lithuania. At the end of its mission, VLIK became a significant donor in establishing the Institute of International Relations in Vilnius. The publication introduces the document certifying the latter fact - the statement of VU and VLIK and the protocol of the agreement.The document noted that TTI, which was to start its activities in the 1992/93 academic year, would not only become an institution for the training of graduates and doctors of science, but would also help to better represent the interests of the Lithuanian state in international affairs. VLIK allocated one hundred thousand US dollars for the development of TSI alone, and the future institution promised to name the library and representative audience on behalf of VLIK and to create an exposition for VLIK.
