ENThe essay is devoted to the idea of unconditional trust in God as the main existential meaning of human existence. In the theological work of the Lithuanian philosopher and theologian Antanas Maceina, this idea is deciphered in all his writings. The proposed essay shows how the philosopher builds a "scheme of theistic existentialism" around the figure of the biblical Job. Job, who finds himself in the borderline situation of his worldly existence, remains faithful to the idea of God as the supreme justification and explanation of everything that happens to a person in this world. Keywords: Antanas Maceina, biblical Job, "The Drama of Job", theistic existentialism, philosophy in Lithuania, Vilnius University.
