ENThe article deals with the phenomenon of the writer Julijonas Lindė-Dobilas and his novel "Blūdas", stressing the pattern of "drama of consciousness" in the Lithuanian literature. In questioning intonation, there is discussed the subject of the place of this Lithuanian thinker in the development of artistic mentality of the first half of the XX th century, in the field of religious and cultural self-awareness, the influence of his legacy on the intellectual development of literary discourse on the whole. There is underlined topicality of Dobilas and his creation on the whole process of modernizing the Lithuanian literature, implementing controversies of "metaphysical temptations" and "released sensitivity" initiated by Hermann Hesse.
